Is Rapper/Producer Bill Ding the “most gangster Rochester Kid ever?” No doubt. Vijay Iyer tweeted that on the eve of Bill’s newest release “Structure 4 the Youth,” a collaborative project with producer Steel Tipped Dove (who has produced lots of hot tracks for Big Baby Gandhi, Lakutis, T. Shirt, etcetera) which officially dropped 7/6.
On “Structure 4 the Youth,” Bill Ding raps over Steel Tipped Dove beats w/ features from DVS, Lakutis, Murph Watkins, Dyl Thomas and House of Lyons. Don’t expect for this EP to really sound like anything. At first listen you may think it feels a bit disjointed and you may wonder what the helll is going on. My advice: Give it at least a couple listens and let that shit marinate before you come to a conclusion. It’s different but it’s dope. Read the prefixmag write up, plus stream and download here »>
So, my first exposure was earlier this year when “Half Circle” dropped, which was mostly produced by Bill Ding himself. I think I listen to this nearly every morning. It’s inviting, honest, raw, unapologetically dark w/ flecks of lightheartedness; pairs well with coffee and a rough commute. Standout tracks for me: Half Circle, Bad Habits, Bad Habits pt. 2, Shorty Impressed, They Told Me. Download Half Circle here »>
ON MOTHERFUCKING DECK is the Theme Muzik EP on July 19th and another collaborative project, this time w/ Amaze88 (talented producer of numerous tracks on Kool A.D.’s 51 mixtape) on August 9th. Also heard there will be a Bill Ding X Steel Tipped Dove sequel out in August PLUS/ALSO you can expect Bill to show up on Kool A.D.’s next mixtape out in September. This dude is HUNGRY and he’s putting in work. Beleedat.
